Exclusion, poverty, discrimination – Dalits/Dalit women in India
Exclusion, poverty, discrimination – Dalits/Dalit women in India
Seminar
Alliance building for joint mobilizations, actions and campaigns, Developing strategies, visions and alternatives
Working for equality and rights, acknowledging diversities, against all forms of discrimination. For feminist alternatives against patriarchy
Drawing from experiences from other WSF we wish to discuss what is unique and common features in the exclusion and discrimination of minorities in different regions of the world with focus on women, in our case Dalit (the former ´untouchables´ in the caste system) women. In the traditional caste system the rights and duties individuals have are not due to them personally but on the particular caste they belong to. The unit of society is not the individual. The unit is caste. Women from Asia, Africa and Latin America share the same kind of subordination, abuses, deprivation of land, patriarchy, impunity. How can we build a worldwide platform around the world in the struggle to change the prevalent structure?
